Back in the '60s my folks used to take us to a place called Saunemin, Illinois. My mother's aunt and uncle lived there. When I was old enough my dad would take me with my cousins and go pheasant hunting out in the fields to the south of the farm where they lived. The fields were paralleled by the Wabash. I have many memories of seeing Wabash freights and passenger trains roll across that stretch of line. Later it was N&W, but it was still called the Wabash in the little town of Saunemin.
