Has anyone gone in the cab of a train, or ridden in one. I once rode in the cab of a little 0-4-0 switcher in Northern Ireland and once got a tour of the cab of a LNER Pacific by a freindly engineer in England

Just about 2 years back. I went up to indianapolis to see my engineer and conductor friends the use to run the KY cardinal down here. When i went up there we rode amtrak up to layfette. Once we left indy the conductor asked if i wanted to go up to the cab for a few minutes. I said yeah. Once we got up there the conductor was fixen to leave. Well i got up cause i thought i would have to leave. The engineer said where you going. I said i guess back to the coach since the conductor is leaving. The engineer said that i could stay up there. He told me if i wanted to i could blow the horn when we came up to some crossings. So i rode in a cab for over 60 miles. Going 79 MPH. And blowing the horn for every crossing. So it was a fun ride!
