Does anybody know what the lowest locomotive number currently in use on CSX is? I mean "regular" locomotive, not like KCS #1, #2, #3, & #4. Those are cool and all, but I'm talking everyday, freight hauling, working for a living loco's.
I ask because I saw CSX #12 yesterday.

Nope! But it could be by make of model, the CSX #1 or 2 could be the first ones built for CSX and #12 could be like so many on down the line ya know? But it is interesting to number it so low.

According to the CSX Photo Archives site. AC4400W #1 The Spirit of West Virginia is the lowest numbered regular locomotive. The highest numbered regular freight locomotive on CSX is #9052 a CW44-9. There are some locomotives without prime mover that are used as switching platforms and are numbered from 9118 through 9304...these arent often seen on road trains except on either yard transfers or being moved to another yard.
